The story behind this design
An all-over repeat behaves differently from a placed motif: nothing is centered, so nothing has to line up with the shoulders, and the pattern survives being cut and sewn. Here the trees are worked at two depths of green on a third, which gives the surface the layered look of woodland seen from a distance rather than a row of individual trees. It is the timeless one in the range precisely because no single tree is the subject.
