The story behind this design

The tree is painted as a single canopy of color rather than a trunk with leaves on it: reds and oranges crowd the left of the crown, greens and blues the right, and the two run together through the middle without a hard line anywhere. The trunk is a thin ink stroke almost lost beneath it. It is the kind of cover people buy for a journal they intend to finish.

Care

Keep the journal dry and shelve it upright between other books so the boards stay flat. A barely damp cloth lifts marks off a matte cover, but avoid soaking it. Long spells in direct sunlight fade printed covers, so keep it off a sunny windowsill.
