The story behind this design
The hearts are drawn small and mixed in among the flowers rather than used as a border, so the motif reads as a posy first and a valentine second. Working on cotton twill means the drawing has to survive a visible weave, which is why the shapes are kept simple and the outline is heavier than it would be on a smooth fabric. Slate Blue is the colorway the design was drawn for; on Stone and Bio White it reads lighter and more spring than romantic.
