The story behind this design
Holly is the oldest piece of Christmas shorthand there is, and this drawing leans into it rather than modernizing it: deep green serrated leaves overlapping in loose clusters, with clots of red berries pushed into the gaps where the leaves cross. The green is cool and slightly blue, which stops the red from going orange beside it. Printed on white ceramic the leaves read almost like a botanical plate.
