The story behind this design
Holly is the rare Christmas motif that is a genuine repeat in nature: the leaves interlock at the edges and the berries punctuate them, so a botanical drawing of it tiles almost by itself. That is why it survives being reduced to a card back where a wreath or a tree would not. The deep green and the single red do all the work, which keeps the pattern legible at the far side of a lit table.
Frequently asked questions
Q: What is printed on this deck?
A: Holly leaves and berries, printed as the card back. It belongs to the DipaliZ Christmas collection.
Q: What size and stock are the cards?
A: Poker size, 2.5 by 3.5 inches, on smooth 300 gsm premium-coated cardstock with a semi glossy finish.
Q: Is there another DipaliZ Christmas deck?
A: Yes, a gingerbread house deck on the same stock. That one is a single illustrated subject; this one is a repeating botanical pattern.
Q: Can it be used all year?
A: Holly is strongly associated with Christmas, so this back reads as seasonal. The deck itself plays as any standard poker deck does.
Care
Return the deck to its box after play and store it dry. Coated stock warps in a humid room.
