The story behind this design
Where the other dinosaurs in this series stick to two or three colors, this one is built from a whole spectrum, each body segment a different shade. It is a deliberate choice for the age: three-year-olds name colors far more readily than they name species. The numeral is drawn in the same blocky hand as the animal so nothing on the shirt looks typeset.
