The story behind this design
The squirrel sits upright on a cut tree stump with a nut held in both front paws, caught in the pause before it eats rather than mid-dash. That stillness is what lets the illustration work at two inches, where a running animal would blur into a shape. Rust and chestnut browns run through the fur and the stump, with woodland green behind, so the whole square reads as late autumn without needing a single falling leaf.
