The story behind this design
The butterfly is drawn from directly above with both wings fully open, the pose that shows the symmetry of the markings rather than the insect in motion. Fine linework traces the veins across each wing panel so the shape still reads as an insect and not just a silhouette, even after the kiss-cut border trims close to the outline. The colouring is layered rather than flat, deepening toward the body and lightening at the wing edges, which gives the small decal a surprising sense of depth.
