The story behind this design
Geometry is the right language for a bath mat, because the thing is almost always seen from directly above and almost always partly covered by a foot. A repeating navy figure survives both: there is no single correct orientation to get wrong, and no focal point to stand on. Keeping the palette to one color and the plain ground means the pattern still reads when the mat is damp and the pile is flattened.
