The story behind this design
The artwork looks up into a stand of woodland at the peak of the turn, where maple and oak canopies have gone to amber, ochre and rust. Trunks run vertically through the composition, and the leaf mass fills the upper field so densely that only fragments of sky show through. The palette is warm throughout, which gives the piece the particular late-afternoon glow of an October walk.
