The story behind this design
The adult version of this artwork is about making a wish. Scaled down to a baby's chest the same dandelion is answered instead: It Came True. The stem is drawn as a single unbroken line and the seedhead reduced to a handful of marks, partly so it survives printing at a small size and partly because a baby garment can carry one idea and no more. The four colors are all dark, which is a practical choice as much as a design one.
