The story behind this design

Watercolor on polyester is a translation rather than a reproduction: the bleed and granulation of real pigment on paper have to be built deliberately, because sublimation ink lays down evenly whether you want it to or not. The flowers here were drawn with those soft edges exaggerated slightly so that something of the wash survives the print. The pastel range keeps the whole square quiet enough to sit under a plate.
