The story behind this design
A carved pumpkin is really a study in negative space, and this drawing treats it that way: the eyes, nose and grin are cut out to a warm glow while the shell stays in deep orange with almost no shading. Because the tote is square, the face is centred and scaled to just under the panel width, which leaves a margin so nothing important is lost where the seam folds.
