The story behind this design
The pattern is built from broad black brush marks and thin dragged lines over bone white, arranged so the heavy strokes fall away from the center of the tile. Working in one color forced every decision into the mark-making itself, which is why the strokes vary so much in weight. The mood is calm, graphic and a little severe.
