The story behind this design

The leaves are sketched with a loose, slightly scratchy line that overshoots at the tips, the way a pencil does when the hand is moving fast. Small five-petal blooms are dropped into the gaps at a much lower density than the foliage, so they read as incidental rather than as the subject. Everything sits in a soft graphite tone on a warm off-white, with no color at all.
