The story behind this design
Making the mane the rainbow was the whole idea: the lion does not wear a flag, it becomes one. The strokes are loose and brush-like so the colors bleed into each other rather than sitting in tidy stripes. Against the Black ground the saturated bands read from across a street, which is rather the point at a march.
