The story behind this design
A mandala is a closed circular form and footprints are the opposite, a line that goes somewhere, so putting the two together is the whole argument of the design: stillness and journey in one mark. The moon and sun close the circle at either side, which gives the composition its symmetry back. White was the right and probably the only ground for it, since a mandala relies on fine repeated line work that a dark shirt would swallow.
