The story behind this design

The pattern is built from interlocking eight-point stars, the shape that runs through Moorish, Spanish and Moroccan tilework alike, with a single gold line tracing each join. Keeping the blues to two tones rather than four stops the mosaic from turning busy at this size. Gloss was the right finish because real glazed tile has depth, and a matte print would have flattened it.
