The story behind this design
Flower heads are reduced to a few confident strokes of hot pink, acid yellow and coral, laid straight onto black with no outline and no shading. The gaps between blooms stay wide, so the black does as much work in the composition as the color does. It owes more to brush-and-ink poster art than to any tropical botanical.
