The story behind this design
Fish are drawn from the side and at several sizes, swimming in loose shoals rather than in neat rows, which is what gives the pattern its drift. The blue is pitched mid-tone so the lighter fish bodies lift off it without the whole shirt turning into a bright aquarium. Up close you can read individual species shapes; from across a deck it reads as moving water.
