About This Item
This DipaliZ doormat is a tufted coir mat measuring 24 by 16 inches, carrying a dark cherry blossom design. The coir is coconut-husk fiber set on a black vinyl backing. Printing the blossom against a dark ground is the point of this version: the flowers stand out and everyday dirt does not. The mat is offered in one size with one design. Size and materials stated here are read from this listing's own records.

The story behind this design
Dark ground does all the work in this design: the blossom is lifted out of near-black rather than laid onto pale coir, so each flower carries its own edge of light. Branches run deeper into the frame than in the pastel version, giving the composition weight toward the corners. The mood is dramatic and nocturnal, the one mat in this range that reads better by porch light than by daylight.
Frequently asked questions
Q: What size is the mat?
A: The mat is 24 inches wide by 16 inches deep, in one size only.
Q: What does moody mean on this listing?
A: It refers to the palette. The blossom is printed against a dark ground rather than a pale one, which is why the flowers read as lit from within.
Q: What is it made from?
A: Tufted coir coconut fiber on a black vinyl backing.
Q: Does a dark print hide dirt better?
A: On a doormat, yes. Mud and dust show far less on the dark ground of this design than they do on the pastel and ivory mats in the same range.
Care
Shake the mat out or vacuum it. Brush off marks when the mat is dry instead of washing it, because coir takes a long time to dry once soaked. Keep it out of standing water and out of the washing machine.
