The story behind this design
Reversing the usual arrangement changes the whole character of the sock: instead of blue motifs on white, the blue becomes the field and the boats and anchors are left open so the White base shows through them. Wave lines run horizontally behind the fleet, which the other nautical designs leave out entirely. It is the same vocabulary used at a darker weight.
