The story behind this design

This cat is drawn in the low creeping posture every cat owner recognises from about three in the morning — belly down, shoulders raised, one paw suspended. Nothing about the drawing is costumed; the ninja reading comes entirely from the pose and from the shirt colour supplying the dark. Army green was included because it is the one ground that makes the cat look like it is stalking through something rather than across a flat field.
