The story behind this design
Of the olive designs in this range, Oliva Italiana is the most restrained: a single long branch running corner to corner with the leaves spaced widely and only a few olives along it. There is no bottle, no wreath and no clustering. The green is darker and cooler than in the other mats, closer to the underside of a real olive leaf, and the generous empty space is what makes the mat read as formal rather than rustic.
Frequently asked questions
Q: How large is this DipaliZ placemat?
A: It measures 9 by 7.5 inches and is sold as a single mat.
Q: What is it made of?
A: Leather, printed over the natural tone of the hide.
Q: Does the mat carry Italian lettering?
A: Oliva Italiana is the name of the design. The artwork itself is the olive branch, and the Italian wording is what the design is called rather than a slogan across the mat.
Q: Can these be bought as a set?
A: Each listing is one mat, so order four for a table of four. Because the design is identical on each, they match exactly.
Q: Does it protect the table underneath?
A: A leather mat gives a firm barrier between a warm plate and a wooden table, which is a good part of why these are bought in fours.
Care
Wipe the DipaliZ Oliva Italiana Leather Placemat with a dry or barely damp cloth and air dry it flat. Do not soak, machine wash or dishwasher it, and keep it clear of direct heat sources.
