The story behind this design
Adding the bottle changes what the mat is about. A branch alone is decorative; a branch beside a tall narrow oil bottle with a pouring spout is a kitchen still life, and it reads as being about cooking rather than about plants. The bottle is drawn in outline only, so the leather shows straight through the glass, which is a trick that works on a tanned ground and would not work on white cloth. Olives are the single densest element on the mat.
Frequently asked questions
Q: How large is this DipaliZ placemat?
A: It measures 9 by 7.5 inches and is sold as a single mat.
Q: What is it made of?
A: Leather. The print sits over the natural tone of the hide rather than covering it.
Q: What does the design show?
A: Olives on the branch alongside a slim olive oil bottle, which is what distinguishes this mat from the branch-only designs in the range.
Q: Can it be wiped clean?
A: Yes. Use a dry or barely damp cloth. Leather should never be soaked or machine washed.
Q: Would this suit a housewarming gift?
A: Yes. A pair or a set of four makes a useful, neutral gift for a new kitchen without needing to match anyone's existing tableware.
Care
Wipe the DipaliZ Olive Oil Leather Placemat with a dry or barely damp cloth and let it air dry flat. Do not soak it, machine wash it or put it in a dishwasher, and keep it clear of direct heat.
