The story behind this design
The eagle is drawn in a mid-century poster style, with flat blocks of navy, cream and red rather than fine feather detail, so it still reads clearly at 2 inches. The shield behind it anchors the composition and carries the stars and stripes motif in the same restrained palette. It was drawn for the 1776 to 2026 semiquincentennial, and the mood is civic and steady rather than loud.
