The story behind this design
A slip-on has no lacing to break the pattern, so the splatter runs clean from the toe over the vamp in one piece - the elastic side panels are the only interruption and they sit low where the print is sparsest. That makes this the better canvas for a loose, thrown design than a lace-up version of the same artwork. Red and blue marks are kept dense at the toe and thin out toward the heel, which stops the shoe looking uniformly speckled.
