The story behind this design
A ring of leaves and small perched birds encloses the name, so the design works as a frame rather than a background. The wreath form is borrowed from spring embroidery samplers, which is where the gentle, slightly old-fashioned feel comes from. Leaving the middle of the ring empty is the whole point: the name is the subject and the birds are the setting.
