The story behind this design

Scattered is the operative word. Rather than building a grid, the shapes are dropped across the cover at varying angles and distances, the way cut paper falls on a table, with plenty of pale ground left between them. That openness is what lets a name sit anywhere on the cover and still be read. The colors are picked at full saturation but used sparingly, so the effect is playful without turning into a children's pattern.
