The story behind this design
Deco liked animals reduced to their geometry, and an owl reduces well: two circles for the eyes, a wedge for the beak, and a body built from stacked chevrons standing in for feathers. Nothing here is drawn from life. The bird is symmetrical to the millimeter, which is what lets it sit directly above a centered name without either one looking off balance. Gold line on matte black keeps both readable.
