The story behind this design
A plant cell is one of the first diagrams anyone is asked to label, and most versions of it are drawn to be copied rather than looked at. This one keeps the parts in their right places but treats the cell as a picture: the chloroplasts scattered rather than lined up, the vacuole taking the room it actually takes. It is still correct enough to argue over at a science fair.
