The story behind this design
A seamless repeat is a different discipline from a scene: every motif has to work at any position, because the cutter does not care where the pattern falls. The reindeer and spruce trees here are therefore sized small and spaced evenly, and the palette is pulled back to pastels so that a wall of repeated figures does not become noisy. It is the pattern counterpart to the Rudolf pillow in the same range, which solves the same winter scene as a single portrait instead.
