The story behind this design
The lettering came first here, and the vegetables were drawn to fit around it rather than the other way round, which is why the carrot bends and the greens splay. Everything is rendered in the flat two-tone style of mid-century grocery signage, where a tomato is a red circle and a green cap and nothing more. The word Kitchen sits slightly off-centre, which keeps the badge from looking like a corporate logo.
