The story behind this design
Canvas is a coarse weave, which flattens fine type and eats thin strokes, so the lettering here is set heavier than it would be on paper. The phrase breaks over two lines with the second sitting slightly inset, a trick borrowed from book jackets that keeps a short sentence from looking stranded on a wide surface. On the Natural canvas the type reads as ink on cloth; on Black it reads as a stencil.
