The story behind this design
Rust is the color that makes a table look considered without looking formal: it sits well on bare wood, next to terracotta, and under almost any food. Leaving the middle of the napkin plain was the deliberate choice here, because a border reads as intentional table linen while an all-over print reads as a pattern you happen to be eating off. The border motifs are small stepped shapes, drawn fine so they survive being folded.
