The story behind this design
Rust is a difficult color to build a pattern around, because it sits close to brown and swallows anything too near it in tone. The palette here answers that by jumping, not stepping: the shapes beside the rust are either notably lighter or notably deeper, so the geometry stays legible instead of turning to mud. The angular repeat owes something to seventies furnishing fabric, which is where rust last had a proper run.
