The story behind this design
The whole character of a scorpion sits in the tail, so the drawing gives it most of the space and keeps the body compact beneath. Curling the tail over the back turns a long animal into something that fits a round label without being cropped. The glyph does the same trick in shorthand, ending in a small barb, so the two marks rhyme across the label.

Care
Trim the wick before each burn and keep the flame away from drafts. Let the wax pool reach the edge of the jar on the first burn so the candle does not tunnel. Never leave a lit candle unattended, and stop burning once a small amount of wax is left in the base.
