The story behind this design
Pulling in close changes what a devotional image asks of you. There is no scene here and no narrative, only the face, the crescent, the half-closed eyes and a wash of deep blue that could be skin or could be night. Painting the same god as a portrait rather than an episode turns the print from a story into something closer to a presence in the room.
