The story behind this design
Diwali marks Ram’s return to Ayodhya, so putting Shri Ram beside the diya closes a loop the lamp alone only implies. The figure is drawn in a devotional register, frontal and still, with the lamp placed at the lower edge of the wrap as an offering rather than an attribute. The gold is used sparingly, on the halo and the flame only, which keeps the label from tipping into poster territory.
