The story behind this design

The phrase works because of what it refuses to say: it does not claim you always win, and it does not offer consolation. A design for it has to be equally plain, which is why the typography here carries the whole thing rather than being decorated around. Set large on a wall, an unadorned sentence has the weight of something written down on purpose rather than quoted.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What does this decal say?
A: Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.

Q: What sizes are available?
A: 18 by 12 inches, 24 by 18 inches and 36 by 24 inches.

Q: Is it a sticker or a fabric decal?
A: A polyester fabric decal, which lifts and repositions rather than tearing like a vinyl sticker.

Q: Where does it work best?
A: A study, a classroom, a home office or a teenager's room. It needs a smooth painted wall rather than a textured or freshly painted one.

Care

Apply to a clean, smooth, fully cured wall and smooth outward from the centre. Wipe with a dry cloth, and keep peeled decals flat on their backing.
