The story behind this design
The repeat is built from marks rather than shapes: short ladders, stitch crosses and half-triangles of the kind that appear when a pattern is counted out by hand instead of drafted. Clay and cream hold the body of it, and a dusty teal line runs through as the only cool note. Scaled down to strap width the marks crowd together and start to look like embroidery.
