The story behind this design
Drawing the statue inside a stamp frame gives the image a date and a provenance it would not otherwise have, and the scalloped edge does most of that work. The ink colors are kept to two, a faded indigo and a muted brick, in the manner of old single-color commissions. The result reads as a souvenir of the anniversary rather than a flag.
