The story behind this design
Sweet peas have almost no substance to them, thin petals that let light straight through, and the painting works with that rather than against it: the color is laid thin and the white of the canvas does most of the lifting. Pinks, lilac and a pale coral climb across the frame on wiry stems and curling tendrils. Nothing is outlined, so the flowers seem to sit slightly above the surface.
Frequently asked questions
Q: What is painted on this canvas?
A: Sweet pea flowers on climbing stems with curling tendrils, in pink, lilac and pale coral.
Q: What is the canvas made of?
A: A poly-cotton blend, stretched over a 1.25 inch thick frame.
Q: How many sizes are offered?
A: Thirty-one, from 8 by 8 inches up to 30 by 40 inches, in square, tall and wide shapes.
Q: Does it come ready to hang?
A: Yes. It is a stretched canvas on a deep frame and needs no additional framing.
Q: How is this different from the DipaliZ hydrangea canvases?
A: Both are stretched canvases on the same blank. The hydrangea paintings are dense and saturated; this one is deliberately thin and light, with the canvas showing through the color.
Care
Dust with a dry soft cloth or brush. Keep the canvas out of direct sun and away from damp, and never clean it with water or a spray cleaner.
