The story behind this design
Putting the rainbow inside the bulb rather than behind it is the decision the whole design rests on. The bands run horizontally across the glass and stop hard at its outline, so the bulb reads as lit from within, and the filament is left as a thin reversed line crossing the bands rather than being drawn over them. Outside the glass everything is one dark ink, which keeps the color contained and stops the shirt from turning into a flag.
