The story behind this design
The surfboards are drawn as flat shapes with their stripes running lengthways, closer to a 1960s decal than a photograph of a board. Waves behind them repeat in long horizontal bands so the boards appear to be resting rather than riding. The palette is sun-bleached on purpose.
