The story behind this design
The Virgo glyph ends in a loop that crosses back over itself, and that crossing is the whole design here: it is drawn oversized and given the heaviest stroke in the piece, so the eye lands on it first. The ring around it is single-weight and open at the top, where a small sheaf of wheat breaks the line. Everything else is left empty, which is what lets the mark carry the shirt.
