The story behind this design
Fleece is a forgiving surface for saturated colour: the pile scatters light slightly, so a red that would look harsh on a flat cotton print stays rich instead of shouting. This design takes advantage of that by keeping the flowers at full strength and letting them crowd the field rather than floating on empty ground.
