Vintage Black Rose Ceramic Coaster — Gothic Floral Drink Mat

Drawn as an aged botanical plate rather than a photographic bloom, the black rose on this DipaliZ coaster reads vintage first and gothic second. The coaster is a round ceramic drink mat in one size. The rose is shown with stem and leaves, the way a plate in an old herbal would present it. That double register is why the piece works as a dark romantic gift as well as gothic barware.

The story behind this design

An old botanical plate is defined by its line work, so the rose here is built from fine hatching rather than solid fill, and the ground carries a faint aged tint as if the paper had yellowed. Stem and leaves are included, which a decorative rose print usually drops. The result is closer to a page from a herbal than to a graphic motif.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is this DipaliZ drink mat made of?
A: It is a ceramic coaster.

Q: What shape and size is it?
A: The coaster is round and comes in one size.

Q: How does it differ from the DipaliZ black rose gothic coaster?
A: This one is an aged botanical plate with stem and leaves and fine hatching. The other black rose coaster is a close-up single bloom pushed almost to black.

Q: Is this a Halloween design or a romantic one?
A: Both readings work. The rose is gothic enough for an October table and vintage enough to give as a romantic or wedding gift.

Care
