About This Item

This DipaliZ ceramic coaster carries a vintage moth specimen, drawn plainly and without any skull marking. The coaster is round, ceramic bodied and cork backed, and comes in one size. A plain moth is a quieter motif than a death's-head one, which is what lets this coaster sit in a rustic kitchen as easily as a gothic one. The cork base keeps it in place under a mug.

The story behind this design

Wing pattern carries this design: concentric bands and eye-spots drawn in soft browns, with the body left pale so the wings dominate. Nothing is exaggerated for effect, so the moth looks observed rather than styled. Against the coaster's warm ground the whole thing reads as a study torn from a naturalist's notebook.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is this DipaliZ moth coaster made of?
A: It is ceramic with a cork-backed base.

Q: What shape and size is it?
A: The coaster is round and comes in one size.

Q: Does this moth have a skull marking?
A: No. This is a plain vintage moth specimen. The skull marking appears on the DipaliZ death's-head moth coaster instead.

Q: Does the cork base protect the table?
A: Yes. Cork keeps the ceramic base off the surface and stops the coaster sliding.

Care

Wipe the face with a damp cloth and dry the cork base fully. Do not soak or dishwasher-wash a cork-backed coaster.
