The hat is drawn a size too large, which is the joke and also the composition: it gives the figure a top-heavy silhouette that reads from across a room. Underneath, the face is kept sparse, barely more than a few marks. On sport grey and dark heather the flecked fabric shows through the lighter areas of the drawing and the whole thing looks slightly worn already.
